We've been super busy recently, expanding our range of products on offer.
With Christmas on the horizon (yes, we said it!), it's time to start thinking about how you can make more considered purchases this year – especially when it comes to supporting local, independent businesses.
Lola's Spa Bar
Based Norwich, Lola's Spa Bar makes eco friendly candles, soaps and bath salts. Here's a bit more about the company from Lola herself;
"There were a lot of things I wouldn’t have been able to tell you about 2020 if you’d asked me last New Year’s Day. So much has happened, a lot of it completely unpredictable, and frankly insane at times. One thing I would have told you with certainty, however, was that I was going to start my own business.
I had the idea for Lola’s Spa Bar some years ago now, after I started to make soaps and candles as Christmas gifts for friends after spending more time than I care to admit binge-watching tutorials on YouTube. A few people casually joked that I should sell them, and the thought was a nice one, but one I somehow didn’t take too seriously at first.
I knew I wanted to make things that were beautiful to look at, good quality, and unique to anything else that’s out there. I also knew I wanted to be as eco-friendly as possible, and to make completely cruelty-free and vegan products.
Eventually I progressed from “thinking about starting a business” to “talking about starting a business”. I came up with the idea to do a Café theme, so the candles would be based on drinks, the soaps would be based on desserts, bath salts on sweets, etc, and then I began to look at how they would smell and what they would look like, and before I knew it, I was starting a business.
I spent April and May experimenting with supplies. At first I was focused on the soaps, but when it became apparent that there would be a huge amount of legalities to consider, I zeroed in on the candles. I knew I wanted to make my candles from pure soy wax because it’s a much better quality than paraffin, but soy is controversial because of deforestation in the rainforest.
After much casting about, I found a sustainable supplier right here in the UK, and I was rolling. I selected fragrance oils and colourants, and had a great deal of fun finding our beautiful glassware supplier, who I was thrilled to find was also based in the UK. It had never been a specific part of my idea to only use UK suppliers, but when I realised it was plausible I knew I wanted that to be part of the business model. This wasn’t only to help support other small and medium businesses, but also to help cut down on emissions.
Soon I had a range, a website, a social media platform full of people cheering me on, and my partner Jimmy who was happy to take care of all the boring paperwork. I was ready to launch, and in August that’s exactly what we did. From there we’ve gone from strength to strength, selling our candles, working on our soaps and finally releasing those last month too, and now we’re here with the wonderful team at Goodery!
It’s been almost a year since I decided I was going to really go for this, and I couldn’t be prouder or more grateful for where we are now."

The Tiny Tipple Company
Amanda and Karen are two busy mums who decided that they had a spare five minutes once upon a time. They launched The Tiny Tipple Company in 2016 from their Suffolk kitchens and have grown organically since then.
They have kept to their ethos of only using fruits, berries and blooms that are grown in East Anglia. They pick Sloe’s, Blackberries and Elderflowers from hedgerows and work with local fruit growers to supply us with Blackcurrants, Strawberries and Raspberries. All of Amanda and Karen's Rhubarb and Gooseberries have been grown and picked off their allotment!
Tiny Tipple liqueurs are made using only real fresh fruits grown in East Anglia. They can tell you exactly where the fruit was grown in every bottle, just tell them the batch number which you will find on the base of each bottle!
We've launched a Christmas collection on our site, full of carefully curated gift ideas - all delivered direct to your door with zero emissions. So do good for people and the planet this Christmas, and buy your presents from Goodery!
